Another Tumblr prompt, this one a thank you to On the Right Road for finding a favorite fanvid of mine. Loved writing this one!
With that porcelain skin, you just know Patrick likes to make his new bride blush.
Some pre-Wedding Turnadette fluff. The life of a nun is far different from the life of a wife, in many ways. Shelagh worries about one of those ways. But she’s not thinking what you might think she is…Two or three kettles. Not sure, it’s been a while since I lit the stove.
After Angela decides to contribute to the decorating, Shelagh takes charge.
From a prompt by MissOuiser on Tumblr.
Newly married, Patrick and Shelagh set about getting the new surgery ready for patients, with an unexpected moment.
As usual, Shelagh finds a way to support Patrick in a time of need.
Courting Shelagh
Suddenly, Patrick and Shelagh just were, but every couple needs a chance to have that special time to get to know each other. With a little push from Timothy, Patrick sets out to win his lady.
When Patrick keeps losing his cufflinks, Shelagh comes up with a plan. Two kettles (but probably more appear after the story is over…)
Shelagh needs some help in accepting her new life as a wife. Three kettles, definitely.
The Paper Anniversary
As their first anniversary approaches, Shelagh and Patrick learn love is not enough. Marriage is hard work.
A second chance at the family holiday was an excellent idea, especially if Shelagh buys more new dresses!
Shelagh surprises Patrick. Again, artwork by GreetingsDr. And you can tell Shelagh’s still a newlywed. She’s going to tell Patrick “how right he had been.”
Amatuer.
A visit from the MiL can be stressful. But what about when it’s the former MiL? Inspired by a prompt from SincerelyRobinK.
The Thing That Matters
Between that awful interview with Mrs. Litchcroft and their reconciliation, we’re given only a handful of short scenes with very little dialogue. Here’s my take on that difficult time.
Trying to Hear God
Sister Bernadette struggles with her faith as she decides the path she must take. A companion piece to “Catching His Breath.”
Chapter 1 Doubt
Chapter 2 Confusion
Chapter 3 Guilt
Chapter 4 Honesty
Shelagh can’t sleep as she awaits the results of her pregnancy test.
This fic is set at the end of Series 4 Episode 5. Patrick has begun his recovery from his near-breakdown, and Shelagh has found resources within she hadn’t known existed.
I’m going to give this a Three Kettle rating, primarily because of the story’s setting (a bath), However, I think the kettles better reflect a level of intimacy rather than steam, which I think is actually kind of hot.
Writing Her Own Rules
Shelagh is thrilled to be mother to Timothy and Angela, but she’s also a highly qualified nurse and midwife. How will she reconcile her desire to be everything to everyone?
Early in their marriage, Shelagh is still learning about herself.
Confident Shelagh finds a better way to wake her husband. (Four kettles on the hob!)
Sort of a sequel to Unexpected Intimacies.
Shelagh ponders whether bottle-feeding will inhibit her bond with Angela.
The original plan for this was a few one-shots, but it took on a mind of its own, and soon I was in a full-blown, eighteen chapter character study.
There’s a sweet little moment in Chapter that’s inspired by artwork by SincerelyRobinK. Check out her Tumblr blog!
One evening, Shelagh asks for clarification from Patrick. Who knew Fred could cause such consternation?
Just a wee bit on the steamy side…
I just read them all. I was several days, but they were happy days. I can not choose which is more beautiful, all have their perfect side. You really write very well Littlebird .
